Wood is good company. I enjoy to be with all kinds of wood; green wood, old wood, drift wood, etc. The untouched piece itself tells me what to do with it.
I work with wood I cut down myself and all kinds of recycled wood. My work process often consists of glueing smaller pieces together, in this way the sculpture slowly grows until I might start cutting off again. My method leaves cracks that become part of the final piece. Aware of the natural swaying lines in the wood I might paint my table, chair or sculpture. The vibrant demeanor of the wood's shapes and growth rings I strive to preserve in the final result.
